Nicola Grayling was born and raised in England. In 2003, Nicola and her husband were offered the chance to move to the U.S. A big decision, but with no children yet to worry about – they packed up everything in England, moved, and never looked back!

Happily settled in the U.S., Nicola is now the devoted mother of two energetic boys and her journey through motherhood is the inspiration behind The Accessory Barn.

“When my sons were babies, I found I never had the time to get to the stores to find those all-important accessories to complete my outfits. Having two pregnancies within a year of each other, I was always dressed in maternity wear. The only thing I could always rely on to mix up my look was my fashion accessories. My pashmina scarves and jewelry always fitted regardless of my weight gains or losses – They were and still are my best friends!”

In 2009, Nicola was on vacation with her family and she stumbled upon Grandco Sandals in a store. Although she had never heard of the brand, she instantly loved their look and comfort, and had to purchase a pair! Nicola chose a pair with the little colored marbled stones, knowing they would match any summer outfit. She wore them all day after buying them, and for the first time she had a pair of sandals that did not need to be broken in!

The next day she headed right back to the store to purchase a few more pairs of beaded flip-flops and was disappointed to only find only one other style in her size. Once back at home, women were commenting on her sandals and always asking where she had gotten them. When she looked for the sandals, the only places she found those jeweled sandals were online with high shipping costs and hardly ever her size.

It was at this stage that she decided there was space in the online world for someone to bring Grandco Sandals and other trendy accessories to ladies everywhere.  And The Accessory Barn was born.
